Wisdom tooth Surgery
Wisdom tooth surgery, or third molar extraction, is a frequently performed oral surgical procedure often necessitated by the impaction or problematic eruption of these posterior molars. This intervention is commonly indicated when wisdom teeth cause issues such as persistent pain, recurrent infection (pericoronitis), dental crowding, damage to adjacent teeth, or the formation of cysts and tumors.
The procedure typically involves the careful removal of overlying gum tissue and, if required, the precise excision of bone to access the tooth, which may then be sectioned into smaller pieces for a less invasive extraction, all performed under local anesthesia, conscious sedation, or general anesthesia.
